Seven exterior paints, three interior colors, and a set of rules about which goes with which that catches people out. The base trim cannot be had in three of the seven, and two interior colors are locked to a seat material rather than freely chosen.
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 comes in seven exterior colors: Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Gray Metallic, Rhodium White Premium, Polymetal Gray Metallic, Aero Gray Metallic, Jet Black Mica and Navy Blue Mica.[1] Jet Black Mica and Navy Blue Mica cost nothing extra. The other five are premium paints at $595 each.[2]
Inside, there are three colors: Black, Pure White and Sport Tan. You do not choose them freely. Each one comes attached to a seat material, so picking an interior color narrows your trim choice before anything else does.
Navy Blue Mica is new for the 2026 model year and arrives with the redesign. Paint is also the only factory option on this vehicle that moves the price at all.[2]

The 2.5 S can be ordered in Jet Black Mica, Rhodium White Premium, Navy Blue Mica and Machine Gray Metallic. Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Polymetal Gray Metallic and Aero Gray Metallic are not offered on it.[1] If your heart is set on Soul Red, your entry point is the 2.5 S Select. That is a two thousand dollar step, and it brings wireless phone projection and leatherette seats with it, so it is not purely a paint decision.
Our own read after a year of these on the lot: Machine Gray and Jet Black photograph best, Soul Red holds its value in conversation more than any other color we stock, and Navy Blue Mica is the one people walk past, then walk back to.
Three interior colors exist. Which ones you can have depends entirely on which seat material your trim carries, and that catches a lot of shoppers out at the point of order.

Read that table twice, because the consequence is easy to miss. Sport Tan is a leather color, so the cheapest way into it is a 2.5 S Premium. Pure White is a leatherette color, so it exists on the 2.5 S Select and 2.5 S Preferred and disappears again above them. There is no trim on which you can have both a light interior and leather seats.
It arrives at the 2.5 S Premium alongside ventilated front seats and the panoramic sunroof. Customers who come in asking for a tan interior are usually surprised to find it is a nine thousand dollar walk from the base car rather than a colour swatch.
On the 2.5 S Select and 2.5 S Preferred, with a microsuede centre panel. In this climate the suede insert is the part that matters, because it does not go slick when the cabin is hot.
Five of the seven colors carry a $595 charge.[2] That is a manufacturing cost rather than a marketing line, and it is worth understanding before you decide it is or is not worth paying.
Mazda’s premium finishes use additional coats and different pigment structures from a standard mica paint. Soul Red Crystal Metallic in particular is built in layers, which is why it shifts so much between shade and direct sun and why it costs more to repair after a parking lot incident. That last point is the one most people have not considered.
A multi-layer premium paint takes longer to blend and match than a solid or single-stage color. If you park in a downtown garage every day, that is worth understanding at the point of purchase rather than at the point of the first scuff. The other thing worth saying plainly is that paint is the only factory option on the 2026 Mazda CX-5 that changes the price. Everything else you might add is a Mazda accessory fitted separately and priced separately.[3] There is no colour package, no appearance package and no black-badge option on this vehicle.
We sell cars in a market where a vehicle sits in an uncovered lot for eight hours a day, nine months of the year. That changes the calculation more than most colour guides admit.
Dark paint gets hotter. That is not folklore; a black roof and a black dash absorb more of what a July afternoon throws at them, and the cabin you climb into at five o’clock reflects it. Jet Black Mica and Navy Blue Mica are the two most affected in this range. If you love them, love them, and buy a windshield shade on day one. Remote start through the MyMazda app is standard on every trim and does more for this than any other feature on the car.
Light paint hides pollen badly and hides everything else well. Rhodium White Premium is the lowest-maintenance colour we stock by a distance, which matters if your car lives outside under an oak.
Interior colour deserves the same thought. Pure White leatherette and Sport Tan leather both look superb on the lot and both show more than black does once the car is carrying beach gear, sports kit and a dog every weekend. That is not a reason to avoid them, and we sell plenty of both. It is a reason to add all-weather floor liners from our parts department at (407) 851-8510 on the day you take delivery rather than in year two.[3]
One last practical note. Every colour on this page will look different under our lot lighting than it does on a screen, and the metallics change character completely between overcast and direct sun. Come and stand next to the two you are torn between at about four in the afternoon.
Colour availability moves faster than anything else on this page. Trim and colour combinations on a first-year vehicle sell in a particular order, and the popular pairings go first.[4]

Navy Blue Mica, introduced with the third-generation redesign for the 2026 model year. It is one of the two no-cost colors alongside Jet Black Mica, and it is available on every trim including the base 2.5 S.[1]
Lighter paint absorbs less heat, so Rhodium White Premium is the easiest colour to live with in an uncovered Orlando parking lot, and it also hides pollen and dust better than anything else in the range.
