Two sizes cover all five trims, and the door jamb on your own vehicle is the document that settles it. Below are both fitments, what the sidewall markings mean, and the replacement rule Mazda publishes that almost nobody quotes.
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 uses 225/65R17 tires on 17 x 7.0J wheels for the 2.5 S and 2.5 S Select, and 225/55R19 tires on 19 x 7.0J wheels for the 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium and 2.5 S Premium Plus.[1] Recommended cold inflation is 36 psi front and rear on both fitments.
The spare is a temporary compact, standard on all five trims, sized T155/90D17 and inflated to 60 psi. Whatever this page says, the tire and loading information placard on your own driver’s door jamb is the controlling source for your specific vehicle.

Section width is 225 millimetres on both, so the difference between the two fitments is sidewall height rather than contact patch. The 17-inch tire has a taller sidewall, which is why the 2.5 S and 2.5 S Select ride slightly softer and sit at 8.0 inches of ground clearance against 8.2 on the 19-inch trims.[3]
Mazda’s 2026 Owner’s Manual gives the 17-inch tire as 225/65R17 102V. The tire manufacturer that announced the North American original-equipment fitment for that size published it as 102H, a lower speed rating.[4] Both are credible sources. Until we have read it off a sidewall on our own lot, treat the manual figure as the one to work to and check the placard on your own vehicle. The 19-inch 99V is not in dispute.
Mazda publishes no original-equipment tire brand for this vehicle. The tire makers themselves have announced the fitments, and on 2026 Mazda CX-5 production the 19-inch size has been supplied as a Toyo Open Country H/T and the 17-inch as a Yokohama Geolandar X-CV.[4] Original-equipment sourcing can change mid-production and varies by build, so check the sidewall on the specific vehicle rather than assuming.
Everything you need to buy the right tire is moulded into the side of the one already fitted. Taking 225/55R19 99V apart:

Find the DOT tire identification number on the sidewall. The last four digits are the week and the year the tire was built, so 2124 means the twenty-first week of 2024. Look on both sides of the tire. The number is not always moulded into both.
Learn to read that date code for a second reason too. A tire sitting on a shelf ages the same way one on a car does, so a brand-new tire with a four-year-old date code has already used part of its service life.[2] Our parts department will show you the code on anything we sell you. Cold inflation on the 2026 Mazda CX-5 is 36 psi front and rear, on both the 17-inch and the 19-inch fitment. Cold means the vehicle has been parked at least three hours or driven less than a mile, which in this climate usually means first thing in the morning.[1]
Pressure rises as a tire heats up, so a reading taken after a drive across town in August will read high and tempt you to let air out. Set them cold and leave them alone. Current pressures can also be read on the centre display through the app list on the Mazda Connect™ navigation bar.
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 uses a direct system with a sensor in each wheel, and there is no reset button and no menu item to clear it. The relearn happens by driving.
A steady warning light means low pressure. A flashing one means the system itself has a fault, and Mazda’s instruction is to contact an authorised dealer rather than to keep driving on it. It will also flash if you drive within 19 minutes of changing a wheel, because the sensor codes have not registered yet. If yours is flashing, call (321) 236-9164 and we will read the system.
One consequence of a direct system, before you buy wheels somewhere else. Mazda’s caution is plain: do not install non-genuine wheels, because it may not be possible to fit the tire pressure sensors to them. That is not a sales line, it is in the owner’s manual.
Mazda publishes two rotation figures on the same page of the owner’s manual, and only one of them makes it onto most websites.

The 10,000-mile figure is the maximum. The 5,000-mile figure is the recommendation, and it lines up neatly with the severe-conditions oil interval that a lot of Orlando commuters are already on. If you are coming in every 5,000 miles for oil anyway, rotating at the same visit costs you nothing in time.[5]
Two rules attached to it. The temporary spare is never included in a rotation. And directional tires, tires with an asymmetric tread pattern, and studded tires rotate front to rear only, never side to side, because performance drops if they run in the wrong direction. Mazda also asks for pressures to be reset to specification afterwards and the lug nuts checked for tightness. Torque is 94 pound-feet.
Three separate triggers, and most drivers only watch one of them.
The first is wear. Mazda’s instruction is to watch the treadwear indicator: when a tire wears evenly, the indicator appears as a solid band across the tread, and Mazda says to replace the tire before that band crosses the entire tread. Mazda publishes no numeric minimum depth anywhere in the 2026 manual. NHTSA does, and puts it at 2/32 of an inch, with the penny test as the field check: put a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head upside down, and if you can see the top of his head it is time.[2]
The second is age, and this is the one to read twice. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 Owner’s Manual says that tires degrade over time even when they are not being used, that it is recommended tires generally be replaced when they are six years or older, and that heat caused by hot climates or frequent high loading accelerates the aging process.[2] It also says to replace the spare at the same time as the road tires, for the same reason.
You will see a six-to-ten-year replacement window attributed to NHTSA. NHTSA reports that range rather than setting it: its words are that some vehicle and tire manufacturers recommend replacing tires that are six to ten years old regardless of treadwear.[2] The spread is real. Mazda says six. Several tire manufacturers say ten. On a vehicle that lives outdoors in Central Florida, we would work to Mazda’s number rather than the generous end of somebody else’s.
The third is damage, which no interval covers. A sidewall cut, a bulge, an impact break or a puncture in the shoulder is a replacement rather than a repair, whatever the tread looks like.
When you do replace, Mazda is unusually direct about how. Replace all four at the same time, because replacing just one can cause poor handling and poor braking. Do not use a size other than the one on the door jamb label. Do not mix different types of tire, and use the same type on all four wheels. Mazda notes that fitting the wrong size can also affect ground clearance, speedometer calibration, headlight aim and the tire pressure monitoring system.
Every 2026 Mazda CX-5 carries a temporary compact spare under the cargo floor, sized T155/90D17 101M and inflated to 60 psi. That is worth having in a market where a lot of rivals now ship a can of sealant, and it comes with conditions.
Most temporary spares carry a posted maximum speed, usually 50 miles per hour, and you will find that figure quoted for this vehicle. We could not find it in the 2026 Mazda CX-5 Owner’s Manual, so we are not going to publish it as a Mazda specification.[4] What the manual does say is that the spare is for emergency use over a short distance only. Read the label moulded into the spare itself, drive gently, and get the road tire repaired or replaced straight away. Our service department at (321) 236-9164 will look at it same day where we can.
Three things about this climate shorten tire life or change how you should watch them.
Heat and ultraviolet light are the big one, and they are why the six-year age rule matters more here than it does in a garage-kept car in a mild state. Mazda names heat explicitly as something that accelerates aging. A set of tires with plenty of tread and a 2019 date code, on a car that has lived outdoors on Orange Blossom Trail, is not a bargain.
The second is water. Tread depth is what clears water out from under the contact patch, and hydroplaning risk climbs steeply as tread wears down. In a month where an afternoon storm can put standing water across a lane of I-4 in twenty minutes, running tires to the legal minimum is a worse trade here than it would be somewhere dry. Standard i-Activ AWD® helps you get moving in the wet and does nothing at all for stopping or for hydroplaning. Tires do that.
The third is pressure swing. Air pressure moves with temperature, and a cold snap in January will drop pressures enough to bring the warning light on in cars that were fine in December. That is usually a top-up rather than a puncture, but check it rather than assuming either way.

225 is the section width in millimetres, 55 is the sidewall height as a percentage of that width, R is radial construction and 19 is the rim diameter in inches. 99 is the load index and V is the speed rating, which Mazda’s own table gives as 149 miles per hour.[1] It is the original-equipment size on the upper three 2026 Mazda CX-5 trims.
Mazda says no. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 Owner’s Manual instructs owners to use the tire size shown on the driver’s door jamb label, not to mix different types of tire, and to use the same type on all four wheels.[1] Mazda also asks for all four to be replaced at the same time.
